About this compound
ACE031 (Ramatercept) is a soluble decoy receptor fusion protein consisting of the extracellular domain of activin receptor type IIB (ActRIIB) linked to the Fc region of human IgG1. It functions as a ligand trap that sequesters myostatin, activin A, GDF-11, and other TGF-β superfamily ligands that negatively regulate skeletal muscle mass. By blocking these ligands from engaging endogenous ActRIIB, ACE031 inhibits downstream Smad2/3 signaling and the transcription of atrogenes responsible for muscle protein degradation. Preclinical research has examined ACE031 for its potential to increase lean muscle mass, improve muscle function, and attenuate muscle wasting in models of neuromuscular disease and cachexia. It has also been studied in the context of bone mineral density modulation, as ActRIIB ligands including activin A influence osteoclast activity.
