About this compound
ARA 290 (Cibinetide) is a synthetic 11-amino acid peptide derived from the helix B surface of erythropoietin (EPO). Unlike full-length EPO, ARA 290 selectively binds to the innate repair receptor (IRR) — a heterodimer of the EPO receptor and the beta common receptor (βcR) — without activating erythropoiesis. Preclinical and early clinical research has examined ARA 290 for its neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-repair properties in models of peripheral neuropathy, ischemia, and chronic inflammatory conditions. It has been studied in the context of small fiber neuropathy associated with sarcoidosis and type 2 diabetes.
